When I heard the story of Shawn Andrews, the Eagles offensive guard who is suffering from depression, I immediately thought of Bo Tkach.

And, Jim Tkach, Bo's father, is glad I did.

Bo, the shining light of Northern Lehigh's football program in the late 1990s and the early part of this decade, took his own life last summer. He was 25.

And since then, Jim and the Tkach family have been on a mission to get the word out about depression, obsessive compulsive disorder and mental illness and how many young people are affected...

Two great guys who used to be rivals, former Northwestern star Brett Snyder and ex-Northern Lehigh coach Jim Tkach, have joined forces.

The great rivalry will be renewed Aug. 8 at Northwestern with a special alumni flag football event that will raise funds for both Snyder's Tackle ALS Foundation, Inc. and the Bo Tkach Memorial.

The event's slogan is "This time it's about more than the score!"
